Studying Infant Nutrition and Blood Sugar in Breastfed InfantsResearch Question:
We are studying insulin concentrations in breast milk. We are also studying how insulin
in breast milk might affect a baby's intestines and pancreas.
Basic Study Information

This study is for pregnant women who plan on breastfeeding their baby for at least
5 months. You and your baby will have two study visits over the first 6 months of
your baby's life at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We will ask for some
blood and some breast milk from you. We will ask for some urine and stool, and a heel
prick from your baby.

Additional Study Details
We like to consent Moms during their pregnancy. Then after the baby is born, you
and your baby will have two study visits at the University of Rochester Medical Center;
one visit at 2-weeks and one visit at 5-months after birth. We will ask for some
fasting blood and breast milk from you. We will ask for some stool and urine and
a heel prick from your baby.
Parking is provided.
You will be provided with up to $250 for your time.
This study has one visit at 2-weeks and one visit at 5-months. You will be paid $150
after the first study visit, and $100 after the second study visit.
