Advanced Life Support Certification Thank you for your interest in the Advanced Life Support Courses at the University of Rochester Medical Center. In 2010 the American Heart Association released the updated guidelines for resuscitation based on the latest science. Therefore, we are ready to provide the latest information to our attendees in the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resusciation Program (NRP). The URMC American Heart Association Training Center is honored to have Faculty that have had a significant role in authoring the new PALS materials. Additionally, several Training Center Faculty have appointments as State and Regional Faculty members, therefore enhancing the quality of our programs. We here at URMC have always taken pride to produce the best programs in the most cost efficient manner. With this in mind we have been able to re-configure the pricing for ACLS and PALS for 2014. You will find that we have able to lower the participants fees so please note the new fee structure. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support The ACLS program teaches the healthcare provider how to recognize patients experiencing a life threatening cardiovascular emergency and management of a patient in sudden cardiac arrest. The ACLS program integrates both didactic and hands on learning. Students have to pass a written evaluation and a megacode skills station for successful completion. The cost of the Provider Course is $329 and the cost of the Renewal Course is $279. If your Provider certification has expired you will need to enroll in the Provider (as there is no longer a grace period). You will need to check with your employer as to whether you need to be certified in ACLS. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is designed for medical, mid-level, nursing and emergency medical transport providers who care for newborns. In the NRP Provider Course, the learner will be introduced to the basic concepts of neonatal resuscitation and learn how to evaluate and establish appropriate treatment interventions in the stabilization of the acutely ill neonate. Learning Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, learners should be able to: Completion of an NRP Provider Course does not imply competency in neonatal resuscitation. Please Note: All participants registered for the Provider Course must successfully complete the “NRP Online Evaluation” within 30 days before the course. After completing the online exam, print out a “verification of completion” to present to your course instructor as evidence of successful completion of the exam. If you do not have the exam successfully completed prior to the course, you will not be allowed to participate.
