Physical Activity

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility, It’s easy to say, ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”

~ Fred Rogers

Physical Activity

Exercise in any form benefits our well-being in so many ways! It is the ultimate stress-buster: from improved sleep, to better focus, to enhanced strength and cardiovascular fitness, we never regret a good exercise session. The arrival of spring makes outdoor exercise a wonderful opportunity to take in the fresh air and new blooms of the season.

Commonly Asked Questions

Q: How can I find the time?

A: We can get great benefits from as little as 10-15 minutes per day of exercise. If you are having trouble finding time to exercise, try getting up a little earlier (by going to sleep a little earlier), cutting down on social media time, or writing down some inspirational quotes or photos to put next to your bed when the urge to strike “snooze” hits! During this time of uncertainty, committing to an exercise routine can create a framework for better time management.

Q: Is it safe to exercise outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic?

A: Yes! As long as you maintain recommended physical distancing, avoiding areas where people are gathered, and do your best to keep 6 feet of distance from fellow exercisers, it is safe to be outside. Walk single file on trails and sidewalks and do your best to safely keep distance when passing another exerciser from the opposite direction. If you are considering exercising in the early morning or evening, be sure to wear proper reflective gear.
