Our Team Kathy Purcell Current Appointment Clinic Administrator Overview I have worked at the University since 1989. I joined the Division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics in 1991. Prior to joining the NDBP team, I provided physical therapy services to both elderly and pediatric patients, including time at Mary Cariola Children’s Center. Specialties My focus is on clinic operations – from the time a child is referred to our clinic until they are seen for the last time. My goal is to make sure that we provide a positive experience for the child and for the parents or guardians as well. Roles and Responsibilities I’m involved in all aspects of the Kirch Developmental Services clinic – the intake process, the scheduling process, and the billing process. It is my job to see that things run smoothly on a day-to-day basis and to address any problems that may arise. While my efforts are primarily focused on the Kirch clinic operations, I do spend some time coordinating our services with those of the other NDBP programs and with other pediatric divisions. Patient Care Profile I have been with the Kirch team for over 20 years and have enjoyed getting to know many wonderful families during that time. Although I don’t personally interact with every family whose child is seen in the clinic, I am fortunate to speak with many parents or guardians during the intake, scheduling and follow-up process. These interactions are the most rewarding part of my job. As Clinic Administrator for Kirch Developmental Services, I work with all our providers and the members of our support staff to try to assure that every patient has a positive experience. If ever things don’t go smoothly for families, I hope they will contact me and let me know how we can work together to improve our services.
