"Extra Life" Gaming Marathon Event Gives Back to Kids

Every fall, since 2008, tens of thousands of avid video game players come together for a day of play known as "Extra Life," putting their endurance and gaming skills to the test for 24 hours in support of sick and injured kids around the country. "Extra Life" is a gaming fundraiser event that benefits Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, including Golisano Children's Hospital, and gives gamers the chance to, as the event's motto says – "Play Games. Heal Kids."

On Nov. 2, 2013, 131 Rochester community members took a day off from their normal schedules to play their favorite action-packed games using their Play Stations, Xboxs, Wiis, and other gaming systems. Thanks to all of the participants' dedication, $11,431 was raised in support of Golisano Children's Hospital patients and families.

Dixon Schwabl employees were one of the many groups that contributed to the event's success. Although the Rochester marketing and advertising agency team couldn't take part in the event in the fall, they did not want to miss out on the fun. Dixon Schwabl held its own Extra Life gaming day from 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Games included Rock Band, PAC-MAN, and FIFA 14. In the middle of the 24-hour period, team members had a chance to visit Golisano Children's Hospital and learn what the community can expect with the future building, come 2015. Eighty donations were received in support of the team, totaling nearly $2,900. Thank you, Dixon Schwabl gamers, for your perseverance and supporting the children's hospital!

Kiwanis Club of Webster Donates in Memory of Patient

Sponsor Spotlight Thank you to Kiwanis Club of Webster members who donated two beautiful red rocking chairs to our Playdeck in memory of patient Bryson Sparrin. Bryson was the club's honorary chairperson at its first annual "Kruis'in for the Kids" event. When Bryson found out he would be the honorary chairperson he wanted to know when he would be getting his 'chair'! The Kiwanis club also donated $5,000 that was raised during fundraising efforts it held throughout the year. We sincerely appreciate your continuous support and generosity!

RE/MAX 2nd Annual Golf Tournament Another Success

More than 140 golfers and Golisano Children's Hospital supporters came out to enjoy the sunshine at RE/MAX Plus' 2nd annual sold-out golf tournament, held July 29, 2013, at Locust Hill. The event raised an outstanding $23,000 for the children's hospital.

In addition to supporting our patients and families through its successful golf tournaments, hundreds of agents in the Rochester region give generously through the CMNH Miracle Home program, making donations through every completed transaction.

The offices of RE/MAX Realty Group and RE/MAX Plus have also committed $100,000 to naming a patient room in the future Golisano Children's Hospital building. Thanks to all of our RE/MAX offices and agents who give so generously to support the children in our region!
