IHOP restaurants flip for fundraising

IHOP celebrated a “Decade of Giving” to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with its 10th annual National Pancake Day this March. Since 2006, the national restaurant chain has raised nearly $16 million in support of sick and injured kids and their families.

Locally, our two IHOP locations, one in Henrietta and the other in Irondequoit, celebrated eight years of donating to UR Medicine’s Golisano Children’s Hospital. In addition to making a donation in exchange for a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes on National Pancake Day, IHOP customers also purchased paper CMNH balloons that were displayed on the restaurants’ walls.

Thank you to everyone who donated! The spirit and passion our local IHOPs and their customers have for fundraising continues to be an inspiration.   

Quarters go a long way with the “Miracle Mile of Donations”

Golisano Children’s Hospital supporters were asked to donate their spare change at the “Miracle Mile of Donations” event at Eastview Mall in early spring. Hosted by the Finger Lakes Kiwanis Division, the fundraiser raised $8,200. More than 90 volunteers donated their time to come out during the day to help make a difference for the children in our region.  We appreciate the continuous support from members of the Kiwanis chapter, especially its several student-run clubs, including Circle K International, Key Club International, and Builder’s Club that played a large role in asking for donations at the event.  

Tops’ Monte Carlo Night celebrates 9 years

The kids always win at Monte Carlo Night, a casino-style event sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets. Hundreds of  advocates gathered at the Eagle Vale Country Club March 22 for a night of fun in support of Golisano Children’s Hospital. In its ninth year, the event raised $15,000, adding to its $100,000 total. 

Tops employee Eric Czekanski and his co-worker, Cheryl Colbert, organize the event and always make sure it’s a royal flush. A grateful parent, Eric and his family have done so much for the hospital. For the past 13 years, Bryce Czekanski has spent six hours of every Tuesday at the children’s hospital for synthetic enzyme-replacement therapy. Bryce was born with a rare genetic disorder called Hurler-Scheie syndrome, for which there is no cure. Now 18 years old, Bryce is preparing to go to college outside of Rochester. With the confidence of more than a decade of high-quality care at Golisano Children’s Hospital, Bryce will find new care providers in his new town. We wish Bryce the best of luck in this new and exciting adventure and thank him for all he has done to make a difference for future patients!
