Tia’s Hope brings holidays to the hospital

Strong Kids Newsletter

Tia's HopeThank you to Tia’s Hope for organizing a holiday party full of music, crafts and more for Golisano Children’s Hospital patients this winter. The national organization was founded in honor of Tia Palermo who passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2001. Tia’s wish was for children admitted at hospitals during the holidays to be able to receive gifts and celebrate with something extra-special.

The Golisano Children’s Hospital Playdeck was transformed into Santa’s workshop for the party, complete with elves and Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves! In addition to providing a variety of arts and crafts supplies for the celebration, Tia’s Hope generously donated 500 $75 Visa gift cards for patients at the hospital.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with Tia’s Hope and what they’ve done for our kids,” said Wendy Lane, child life coordinator. “They brought a sense of hope and joy into the children and families’ lives during a time when it was needed most. The children and teens often questioned if the gift was really for them. It meant the world to them.”
