URMC / Golisano Children's Hospital / Giving / Attend an Event / Hospital Gala / Fund-in-Need Fund-in-Need New Therapy Room and Equipment Walking. Feeding and dressing ourselves. Brushing our teeth. Most of us do these things without a second thought. But if you’re a child recovering from a neurological condition, cancer, a traumatic injury, severe burns or many other life-altering health issues, you may be struggling with these basic self-care skills. Occupational and physical therapy will be key to not only your recovery, but also to increasing your level of independence and self-confidence. This year, the goal for the Fund-in-Need at the 30th annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala, was to raise $500,000 or a new space devoted to occupational and physical therapy to help our children improve the quality of their lives. Right now, therapy takes places in the hospital next to the bedside or in the equally limiting space of the hallway, often interrupted by medical care or hall traffic. With your generous support, we can construct a dedicated, safe space with a variety of equipment such as a bodyweight-supported system—a ceiling track and harness to help children improve their balance and crawl, stand or walk again—and room for challenging, fun activities that inspire kids to do more. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our children and their families!
