Finger Lakes Kiwanis Clubs Honor Mission by Naming Future Waiting Room

A long-time supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), the Finger Lakes Kiwanis clubs recently committed $75,000 to name a waiting room in the future Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Kiwanis “We wanted to do our part to support the new hospital,” said John Hanratty, coordinator for the Finger Lakes Kiwanis clubs’ Children’s Miracle Network programs. “We will have a great sense of pride that families and friends will be able to utilize the Finger Lakes Kiwanis Family waiting room to come together in support of the children in the hospital.”

Throughout its 29 years of support, the organization has held a number of fundraisers to benefit the children’s hospital. Clubs within the Finger Lakes organization have planned and participated in events including wine and food tastings, golf tournaments, raffles, baked good sales, and various auctions. Club members also hold an annual Miracle Mile of Donations event at Eastview Mall, where they encourage shoppers to donate quarters, creating a mile of coins that help make pediatric patient miracles.

Kiwanis clubs throughout the world share a mission of assisting those in need, especially children, in each of their respective communities. “The children's hospital unites all of our clubs in achieving that mission by providing invaluable help to children, and their families, in our region,” Hanratty said.

Golisano Children’s Hospital would like to sincerely thank the Finger Lakes Kiwanis group for all they have done for our patients and look forward to seeing the waiting room being used in the near future.
