Pediatric Critical Care
The Pediatric Critical Care Division at Golisano Children's Hospital is dedicated exclusively to the specialized needs of children and young adults who have serious illnesses and injuries.
The PICU and PCCC
The PICU combined with the PCCC is the largest intensive care service for children in western and central New York. Specialized care is provided by nationally recognized pediatric intensivists, pediatric cardiac intensivists, and pediatric critical care nurses. Designed to deliver the highest quality medical care and meet the specific needs of each child, the PICU and the PCCC are physically located next to each other. This means specialists and services can be shared and are readily available should your child need them.
Physicians from our pediatric critical care units and centers provide sedation services for pediatric patients throughout the hospital. When sedation is necessary for a procedure, they provide their expertise to safely evaluate, administer, and monitor the sedation process.
Pediatric Transport Program
Our Pediatric Transport Program team assists in the transfer and transition of children who require care in our dedicated pediatric critical care units. We serve hospitals and emergency care facilities in Rochester and in 17 surrounding counties.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Critically ill newborn babies receive care in our nationally recognized Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Golisano Children’s Hospital. We deliver advanced treatment for respiratory failure, heart disease, and neurologic injury. The Neonatal Transport Program teams provide safe, efficient transport to the hospital, making the NICU services readily available in the region.
