Annual Stroll for Strong Kids Draws Thousands, Supports New Building

Annual Stroll for Strong Kids Draws Thousands, Supports New Building

Genesee Valley Park was full of vibrant colors May 30 for the 19th annual Stroll for Strong Kids Walk & 5K Run. The “Growing Strong” themed event drew thousands of individuals who were dressed in a child’s favorite color – or character – and had their own personalized team t-shirt. With a record-breaking attendance of nearly 10,000 participants (with almost 840 runners) and close to $400,000 raised, the outpouring of support for the Golisano Children's Hospital and what it means to the community was clear.

Finding your way

Finding your way

The interior of the new Golisano Children's Hospital will showcase the many beautiful landscapes of upstate New York. Each floor will have a different theme and corresponding icon, starting with lakes and moving up to meadows and parks and ending with Rochester's beautiful cityscapes. The themes and their icons will help patients and visitors identify where they are in the building.

New gardens bring healing

New gardens bring healing

Two new spaces that will offer healing outside of the children's hospital are the building's beautiful healing gardens. Healing gardens are rooted in Golisano Children's Hospital's commitment to patient- and family-centered care.

Areas of respite

Areas of respite

Every day, the new Golisano Children's Hospital changes dramatically, especially when it comes to our new gathering and respite spaces. Art is being installed in the dramatic atrium leading up from Crittenden Boulevard to the new children's hospital lobby. Inside the lobby, graphics are up on the walls and on the glass in our centerpiece playpod.
