ugly discoThousands of UR Medicine’s Golisano Children’s Hospital supporters will be transported back in time Saturday, March 7, at the 12th annual Ugly Disco bash to benefit sick and injured kids in the Rochester community. Held from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center, the Ugly Disco celebrates the 70s for a cause.

Dressed in platform shoes, afros, polyester, bell bottoms, and other Saturday Night Fever-garb, guests will dance to live music from The Skycoasters and Disco Nation, as well as popular DJ-spun hits of the era. Other attractions include games of Twister and performances from Aerial Arts of Rochester and Dorian “BluPrint” Hector from Season 10 of FOX’s hit show So You Think You Can Dance. Event attendees will also have a chance to meet celebrity guest Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby Brady on The Brady Bunch.

For more than a decade, the Ugly Disco has raised thousands of dollars for the children’s hospital. The committee is dedicated to raising $100,000 to name a pediatric general care room in the hospital’s future building, a space that will provide patients and families with more privacy and respite. In addition to this funding venture, the event has raised well over $50,000 in support of thePediatric Supportive Care Program and the Bright Eyes Fund, two programs run by David Korones, M.D., pediatric oncologist at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
