University of Rochester, University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center have joined together to form a powerful new drug discovery partnership that aims to convert the institutions’ scientific breakthroughs into viable pharmaceuticals for commercialization and strengthen the region as a hub for life sciences research and development.
The Empire Discovery Institute (EDI) represents a transformative approach to drug discovery and development. It sources innovative, commercially attractive drug discovery programs from its three collaborating academic centers (the University of Rochester, University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to address critical, unmet needs for patients. This new enterprise has been established with an initial grant and investment commitment of $35.4M over the next five years from the New York State Life Science Initiative.
