UR CTSI Seeking Co-Director for KL2 Career Development Program
The UR CTSI is seeking an mPI/co-director for its KL2 Career Development Program, which has launched the careers of dozens of clinical and translational scientists at the University since it was established in 2006. The program aims to enhance the career development of early-stage investigators who seek to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the translational process: turning discoveries into interventions that improve the health of communities and populations.
The program co-directors bring expertise and experience to benefit the scholars and enhance the program’s ability to achieve its training objectives. They will set an ambitious agenda and vision for the continued career development for early-stage investigators and, in so doing, develop the next leaders in the field.
The co-directors will oversee the KL2 Career Development Program and will lead the team responsible for writing the grant renewal proposal. They will be responsible for communicating with UR CTSI and NIH leadership, chairing the KL2 Steering Committee, and leading the annual recruitment, RFA and selection process.
The co-directors will monitor scholar progress and mentor-scholar relationships and have regular meetings with the KL2 Career Development program administrative and evaluation support team to review the operations and progress of the program and its scholars. They will serve on the UR CTSI Executive Team and Research Education Branch leadership team and participate as a member on the Program Diversity and Evaluation Committees. At least one co-director must attend the fall and spring meetings of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program as well as the annual meeting of the Association for Clinical and Translational Science.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced mentor with NIH funding, and will have had experience writing NIH training grants. The co-director is expected to devote 10 percent effort to this role. The UR CTSI administrative team has staff and resources to support the KL2 Career Development program co-directors in their role.
