Changing the Conversation

conversation bubblesThank you for your interest in participating in our "Changing the Conversation” workshop.

This workshop uses techniques borrowed from multiple disciplines to empower trusted messengers like you with conversational tools that will improve the outcomes of these sometimes-challenging interactions around COVID-19 vaccination. The program focuses on vaccine awareness, education and increase in access across eight counties of the Finger Lakes region: Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates. We have successfully done this workshop both in-person and over Zoom for a variety of groups (health care workers and community-based organizations).

The one-hour workshops are hosted on Zoom. Anyone who is interested is welcome. No preparation is necessary.

If workshop sessions are full, or if you want to sign up for more than one, we will prioritize participants from Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, and Yates counties first.

The University of Rochester is committed to providing inclusive experiences and equal access to programs, services, and meetings. If you anticipate needing any type of communication access (ASL interpreting or real-time captioning), please contact Finger Lakes Rural Immunization Initiative Program Manager Sara Mayer-Fried. In all situations, a good faith effort (up until the time of the event) will be made to provide accommodations.

Once the workshop is complete, there is a 5 to 10-minute Redcap survey about the experience. We ask participants to complete the survey immediately following the workshop and then again 4 to 6 weeks after.

To compensate attendees for their time, we offer a $150 honorarium for those who participate in the workshop and complete both evaluations.

Participants are invited to join our twice-monthly online Trusted Messenger Forums if they are interested in learning more.

Each session has a maximum capacity of 12 attendees. Please register for only one session. If you are interested in more than one session, you may email Sara Mayer-Fried to be placed on a waitlist for a second session.
