PCORI Updates

Letters of intent for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s (PCORI’s) current funding opportunities are due today Friday, June 15th, and must be submitted through PCORI’s online application system. The Center for Research Implementation and Translation (CRIT) will support applicants and will keep track of all applications submitted, so please send a copy of your letter of intent to Judy Principe at Judith_Principe@urmc.rochester.edu. Applications are due July 31st. Two additional funding cycles are planned, with application due dates of November 30th, 2012 and March 31st, 2013.

CRIT has formed four PCORI working groups with two aims: in the short run, to support development of applications in response to the four current funding opportunities; and in the long run, to develop strategies to build a program of research in these topic areas. The four topic areas correspond to the four PCORI funding opportunities, and also to four of PCORI’s five research priorities:

  1. Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options (led by John Monson and Katia Noyes)
  2. Improving Healthcare Systems (led by Peter Szilagyi)
  3. Communication and Dissemination Research (led by Ron Epstein)
  4. Addressing Disparities (led by Kevin Fiscella)

If you are interested in joining any of these teams, please contact Judy Principe at the e-mail address provided above.

Finally, working group #2 on Improving Healthcare Systems has offered to review and critique applications submitted in this topic area. If you plan to submit such an application, please inform Tom Fogg at Thomas_Fogg@urmc.rochester.edu and he will organize an opportunity for discussion.
