The University of Rochester Batten Center (URBC) is a recognized leader in research and treatment of this condition. A national nod to IDD Research The effort to better understand intellectual and developmental disabilities and improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by an IDD diagnosis is at the heart of a decades-long collaboration between scientists and clinicians at the University. This work culminated in the recent award from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) naming the University an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC). URMC Research Tool Unlocks Natural History of Batten Disease URMC researchers have compiled decades of patient data and developed a highly sensitive rating scale that has provided a detailed picture of Batten disease.
