EIOH Employee Spotlight - Barb Birecree
What do you do? Lead Dental Assistant, Department of Orthodontics
What do you love about your job? Throughout the 43 years I've been here, I enjoy meeting all the different people that come through here. There are so many different cultures and ethnicities. In fact, we even celebrated Eid Mubarak as a department this year.
One thing most people don’t know about you? I started my career in dental hygiene. I didn’t finish the course because it was too repetitive for me. I need variety.
Do you stay in touch with residents through the years? Yes I always did keep in touch with many people special to me. Now with social media, it's quite a bit easier to keep in touch with many, many more people.
If you could do a different job, what would you pick and why? I would maybe become a dentist. When I was first starting out, there were hardly any female dentists.
What advice would you give the younger you? Try to remain calm and stress free and enjoy your day at work. You spend a lot of time there.
