Dr. Jucan Honored Twice
Adina C. Jucan, D.D.S., clinical director of Eastman Dental at Highland, was recognized twice for her expertise and commitment to improving the oral health of older adults. She was recently named a Fellow of Special Care Dentistry for her outstanding contributions to special patient care and for the recognition she has achieved among her health care colleagues.
Dr. Jucan is an assistant professor at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, with a joint appointment in Geriatrics through the Department of Medicine. She focuses her clinical practice and teaching on improving the oral health of older adults. After fulfilling a long list of requirements established by the Special Care Dentistry Association to become a Fellow, Dr. Jucan will be recognized at its annual meeting this month.
Some of these requirements include extensive training in special care dentistry and continuing education, as well as clinical practice, reference letters, community projects, develop and implement professional programs at local and regional levels, membership in special care dentistry professional associations, and active participation on committees to promote legislative advocacy in this area.
Dr. Jucan was also awarded the Elaine and Irwin Karron Memorial Prize for Excellence in Geriatrics given by the Division of Geriatrics and Aging.
The $1000 prize is awarded each year to a faculty member who has completed at least two years of geriatric fellowship training at the University of Rochester and who has demonstrated exceptional skill, commitment and compassion in caring for older adult patients.
Established by Andy, Ruth and Jeff Karron to honor and continue their parents’ commitment to enhancing care for older individuals in the Rochester community, the award also celebrates their parents’ long-standing friendship with William Hall, M.D., Fine Professor of Medicine.
