Noman Afzal , M.D.
Dr. Noman Afzal graduated from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He has worked as a physician in several hospitals in Pakistan before the start of residency training here in the United States. Dr. Afzal's professional experience includes work in inpatient Gero-Psychiatry as a psychiatry extern at North Shore Medical Center in Long Island, NY.
In 2009, he joined the Psychiatry residency program at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. During his residency training he served as a Chief Resident for the year 2012-2013 and was also honored to receive the Alan M. Kraft, M.D. Award which exemplifies the ideals of humanitarian service continually striving for excellence in clinical practice and enthusiasm for teaching to students in Albany Medical Center. Dr. Afzal was also actively involved in research and has worked on several projects and case studies in the field of psychiatry. He also presented a poster at the Annual American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) meeting in San Antonio, TX.
After the completion of his Psychiatry residency, Dr. Afzal now joins the University of Rochester as a Geriatric Psychiatry fellow, also taking part in the Interdisciplinary Geriatric Fellowship training program for geriatric medicine, psychiatry, dentistry and psychology fellows.
