Psychosomatic Medicine Lecture series

This required weekly series is also attended by fourth-year psychiatry residents, and is open to other psychiatric Fellows. Topics are wide-ranging and pertinent to psychosomatic medicine, and are presented by a variety of faculty members from Psychiatry and other URMC specialties. For a list of sample topics, see below

Lectures to be given by the Fellow

Fellows are expected to devise and deliver at least 3 lectures to junior psychiatry residents on topics of psychosomatic medicine.

Supervision

In addition to rotation-specific (bedside) supervision, Fellows will receive two 1-hour supervision sessions per week with the Program Director. The supervision will focus on rotation-specific topics and pertinent literature, collaboration and supervision skills, practice improvement, development of professional identity, and work-life balance.

Journal Club

This monthly meeting will cover readings pertinent to psychosomatic medicine. Articles will be assigned for review and then discussion. These meetings will often occur off-site, and can include various faculty members.

Psychiatry Grand Rounds

These weekly presentations occur from September through May.
