In addition to benefiting from the extensive knowledge, skills, and experience of our full-time Med-Peds faculty, residents enjoy opportunities to learn from and work with distinguished faculty members from our Department of Internal Medicine and our Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Bingemann grew up in New Jersey. He graduated with honors from Rutgers University in 1995 and UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in 1999. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in 2003. He has worked in Rockland County, NY and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
He is a Senior Instructor in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is especially interested in musculoskeletal conditions.
He moved to the Rochester area in 2006 and enjoys recreational sports, cooking, baking and spending time with his wife and three children.
Dr. Caiola received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then completed his residency at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts and a fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.
Dr. Caiola is a Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is a member of American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Caiola works to optimize the health of his patients by forming interactive partnerships for good health. He has a special interest in resident education and mentorship. Outside of work, Dr. Caiola enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
Dr. Fortuna received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and his masters in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, MGH, and Children’s Hospital Boston and subsequently completed a general medicine fellowship.
Dr. Fortuna is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. He is the Associate Medical Director for the UR Primary Care Network and the Associate Program Director for Ambulatory training for the residency program.
Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, outdoor activities and spending time with his family, including his two daughters.
Dr. Nead received her medical degree from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and a fellowship in Pediatrics at the University of Rochester. She worked in Connecticut for three years, before returning to Rochester to work at Culver Medical Group.
She is an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Nead enjoys caring for multiple generations of family members. Her primary medical interests include preventive health care, pediatric obesity, nutrition education, and complementary medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys running, hiking, biking and spending time with her family.
Dr. Miller earned her medical degree with distinction from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics with distinction in research at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She also completed Cardiovascular Disease fellowship training at the University of Rochester and served as Chief Fellow. She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, and Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She currently serves as the Associate Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and the Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program, and has been a member of the University of Rochester faculty since 2018.
Dr. Miller's interests include hypertension, health equity, women in medicine, and curriculum development. Outside of work, she loves swimming with her kids, reading, yoga, and the Rochester restaurant scene.
Dr. Ray earned her medical degree from the University of Miami in Florida and her master’s in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she focused on human rights and humanitarian assistance. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) where she is now an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Pediatrics.
She is the Associate Program Director of the Med-Peds program at URMC and a primary care provider at the Culver Medical Group, the Med-Peds continuity clinic. She has also worked closely with the homeless population in Rochester, NY as well as victims of torture in the state of New York.
Her professional interests include health equity, education, curriculum development and mentorship. Outside of work she loves to hike, rock climb, do yoga, dance and read.
Dr. Robbins was born and raised in Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Hanover College and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program at the University of Rochester in 1997 and assumed the position of its director in 1999.
His passion and dedication to the growth and development of the master clinician is prevalent at all levels, from student through faculty. He serves as the Vice Chair of Medicine for Education and as an Assistant Designated Institutional Official within the URMC GME office, thereby helping guide the success of all of URMC's ACGME accredited programs.
Dr. Robbins is “living the dream” by developing the next generation of combined-trained physicians and takes great joy in the achievements and accomplishments of the current residents and the graduates. He works clinically as an adult hospitalist at Strong Memorial Hospital and precepts at the Culver Medical Group.

My research interest is provider-adolescent communication. My current focus is developing interactive educational tools to improve the communication skills of providers who care for adolescents.
