Pathology Residency Program
Our fully accredited training program offered in combined anatomic and clinical pathology is structured to prepare residents for academic or community practice. In keeping with the basic philosophy of the department, programs can be tailored to meet specific career objectives of the resident. Participation in research endeavors is strongly encouraged during the training period.
Senior residents may apply for a departmentally sponsored resident year out research experience. AP and CP disciplines are integrated over the required four years. Our laboratories processes over 4 million laboratory examinations annually, including 200+ autopsies, 81,000 surgical specimens and greater than 85,000 gynecologic and nongynecologic cytology specimens. University of Rochester Medical students in their second or third year hold year-out fellowship positions for special study in Pathology and complement the resident staff as externs.
