Pediatrics / Pediatric Residency Program

Pediatric Residency Program

Residents HolidayThe goal of our Pediatric Residency Program is to train exceptional pediatricians who improve the lives of children and are well-prepared for their next stage of practice, regardless of focus.

Our Key Strengths

  • Our residents, who work together and with interprofessional teams to provide amazing care to children in our region
  • Well-balanced education between our tertiary/quaternary and community hospital sites, resulting in graduates who are well-trained for independent practice
  • Breadth and diversity of our patient population and available resident experiences
  • Flexible, individualized training including optional participation in one of our Tracks: digital health and innovation, community health & advocacy (CARE), global CARE, medical educator, primary care, refugee CARE, research, and subspecialty practice
  • Resident involvement in quality improvement efforts in our program and throughout the institution; the University of Rochester is one of eight institutions across the country chosen by ACGME as a CLER Pathway Innovator.
  • National leader in community health and advocacy education, including our Pediatric Links with the Community (PLC) rotation for interns and the CARE track
  • Faculty invested in supporting resident education and autonomy
  • Collaborative community approach in caring for the children of our region
  • Ongoing, intentional anti-racism commitment and actions
  • Home of the Biopsychosocial Model
  • Full integration of Medicine-Pediatric and Child Neurology residents into our resident teams

What Our Residents Say...

Nicole Vieira

I chose Rochester because I really loved my interview day and I felt that we shared similar values: to care for the patient wholistically and value human connection and advocacy. My partner and I felt really excited about moving here and the program, so we followed our gut and ended up here! We are loving it so far.
