Announcements and Accolades Dr. Benjamin Tracy (PGY1) received a Strong Star for going Above and Beyond. A colleague wrote: “Ben goes above and beyond for his patients. Every shift he has made time to sit down with each of his patients to get to know them better and address all of their concerns. Dr. Tracy received two more Strong Stars for going Above and Beyond. A colleague wrote: “Benjamin spent time with a very anxious patient. He took time out of his day to try different activities and conversations to make the patient more comfortable. Benjamin showed compassion and respect for both the patient and the nursing staff;” and, “Dr. Tracy has recently assisted with a very complex discharge. Even when Dr. Tracy was in the ED assisting with other patient's, he was attentive and willing to assist in whatever we needed.” Dr. Maria Vanushkina (PGY1) received a Strong Star for Setting the Standard. A colleague wrote: “Dr. Vanushkina is an excellent doctor who takes the time to listen to what patients and their families have to say. She truly exhibits all of the ICARE behaviors, even during stressful interactions.” Dr. Kristen Brusky (PGY3) received a Strong Star for going Above and Beyond. A colleague wrote: “Kristin is a pleasure to work with, professional, prompt and very thorough. She stays calm in acute situations while being so efficient and helpful. She goes above and beyond every day for nursing staff and patients and families.” Dr. Brusky received a Strong Star for Setting the Standard. A colleague wrote: “Dr. Kristen Brusky is a great team player. The nursing staff has appreciated her efforts to educate us despite her very busy schedule. She is a focused care provider who works with the team to always provide Medicine of the Highest Order.” Dr. Nicholas Love (PGY3) received a Strong Star for going Above and Beyond. A colleague wrote: “He represents our department with accountability and respect as the current consultation physician. It is evident that he cares to work with all of us to provide the best rehabilitation care. He makes efforts to create relationships on patient care units and works with all of us daily to provide quality and safe patient care.” Dr. Nicole Strong (PGY3) received a Strong Star for Setting the Standard. A colleague wrote: “She supports her team mates during stressful times and recognizes the strengths of others.” Dr. Kasia Iwan (PGY4) received a Strong Star for Setting the Standard. An Appreciative Patient wrote: “Dr. Iwan showed great interest in her field. She was pleasant and down-to-earth, yet still able to get her message out. I needed to know our medical needs will be met in the future. Rock solid is my belief in the future!” The majority of our residents participated in the 11th Annual SCI Health Fair in October 2015.
