Duff Rund

After a tennis match, Duff Rund suffered a cardiac arrest and slumped to the ground. Friends and tennis club employees worked to revive him with CPR and a defibrillator. He was then rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital by EMTs.

Duff had suffered what is known as sudden cardiac death. An electrical malfunction had caused his heart to stop beating without any warning signs. In a high percentage of these cases, patients never recover.

Doctors discovered that several of Duff's coronary arteries were partially blocked, so bypass surgery was performed to open those arteries. Duff has now returned to an active life—playing tennis, running a software business, and enjoying his ten grandchildren.
