Highland Diabetes HealthSource Earns Reaccreditation

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

The Diabetes HealthSource of Highland Hospital has earned reaccreditation from the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) through its Diabetes Education Accreditation Program. To achieve four-year accreditation, organizations and programs must meet national standards and demonstrate excellence in providing diabetes-management education.

To achieve reaccreditation, the Diabetes HealthSource underwent voluntary evaluation by the AADE. The AADE reviewed the program’s structure, staff, clinical data, outcomes and quality improvement plans.

The Diabetes HealthSource provides one-on-one education, counseling and blood glucose monitoring to help patients make lifestyle changes and manage their pre-diabetes or diabetes effectively. The program’s Certified Diabetes Educators also offer group classes throughout the year to provide diabetes-management support to patients and their family members.

The Diabetes HealthSource has been accredited by either the AADE or the American Diabetes Association since 2001.
