Rachel Farkas, M.D., Joins Surgery at Highland

Rachel Farkas, M.D.

Highland Hospital welcomes Rachel Farkas, M.D., to the Department of Surgery. She specializes in breast surgery and will perform operations at Highland.

“Having a history of breast cancer in my family, I understand the importance of providing coordinated care to patients and their families,” Dr. Farkas said. “I am proud and excited to be part of the care team at Highland.”

Most recently, Dr. Farkas completed a fellowship in breast surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She also did her residency at URMC, serving as Chief Resident in general surgery from 2010 to 2011.

Dr. Farkas earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Yeshiva University in New York City in 2000. She received her medical degree in 2004 from New York Medical College. She went on to complete an internship and an additional year of residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, N.J.  From 2007 to 2008, Dr. Farkas conducted research in sentinel lymph node biopsy and endocrine surgery at the University of California.

Dr. Farkas is board certified in general surgery and a member of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Breast Surgeons.
