Abby McCarthy, RPA-C, Honored with Highland Hospital’s Advanced Practice Provider of the Year Award

Highland Hospital medical staff recently honored Abby McCarthy, RPA-C, a certified physician assistant in the department of Orthopaedics, with the Advanced Practice Provider of the Year award. The annual award is presented to a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant who is recognized for outstanding patient care and commitment to the mission of Highland Hospital.

“Abby McCarthy is one of the best clinicians at Highland,” said Joseph Nicholas, M.D., M.P.H., Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Rochester, who nominated her for the award. “She routinely manages complex medical and surgical patients with tremendous clinical skill, and is a terrific communicator and colleague.”
McCarthy, a Rochester resident, has been the lead physician assistant in Orthopaedics since 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in physician assistant studies from Rochester Institute of Technology, and also has experience in cardiac care and emergency care.

“The staff, my colleagues, and each department at Highland, have all taught me so much and afforded me every opportunity to do the best job possible,” said McCarthy. “It is a pleasure to work in this stellar environment and a bonus to be recognized with this award.”
