Highland Hospital’s 12th Annual Gala is April 14

Spring Time in New York-themed evening to include entertainment from the New Horizons Band

Highland Hospital’s 12th Annual Gala is April 14

Highland Hospital’s 2018 Gala will be held Saturday, April 14 at 6 p.m. at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Funds raised through the gala will support the technological and equipment upgrades needed to modernize Highland’s Family Maternity Center and the center’s Special Care Nursery.

This year’s gala features a “Spring Time in New York” theme. Guests will stroll through some of New York City’s most vibrant neighborhoods during cocktail hour with music provided by students from the Eastman School of Music and, after dinner, enjoy a performance from the New Horizons Big Band along with some late night street meat.

The primary goal of these modernization projects is to provide our tiniest patients and their families with the latest in cutting-edge technology and amenities. The new Special Care Nursery will include eight individual rooms, which will increase privacy for patients and their families. It will also allow parents to stay overnight with their babies if the mom has been discharged from the hospital but the baby requires a longer stay. Strong Memorial Hospital is currently the only other hospital in the Rochester region with this style of facility.

Renovations will also be made to the triage space where pregnant mothers are first seen by physicians and staff. The new triage bays will look more like traditional rooms, providing better space and privacy for patients and family members. There will also be a new work space designed to better facilitate collaboration between care providers and a simulation training area so physicians and staff can practice for different patient care scenarios.
