Your New Patient Visit - What to Expect

Our Friendly Receptionist Will Welcome You

• We will ask to see a photo ID and your insurance card.
• We will also ask you to confirm your phone number, address, etc.
• If you would like to expedite your visit, please complete our New Patient Questionnaire prior to the appointment, and give it to the receptionist upon arrival.

You Will Be Escorted to the Clinical Area

• We will record your weight and vital signs — blood pressure, pulse, etc.
• We will want to hear about any pain or discomfort you have experienced
• We will review your daily medications, ask about allergies and review your smoking history
• An electrocardiogram (EKG) may be performed. You may be asked to change into a gown.
• Family members and friends are welcome to accompany you.

You Will Meet With a Cardiologist to

• Discuss your concerns in detail
• Review your medical and family history
• Review your medications in detail
• Perform a physical exam and review any test results.
• Provide a detailed overview of any procedures that may be indicated
• Explain all treatment options and reassure you
• Answer your questions and review next steps

At Check-out You Will Receive

• An After Visit Summary that covers follow-up items such as:
  • New Rx and instructions
  • Follow-up appointment(s)
  • Follow-up tests
  • Instructions reviewed during your appointment
• Instructions on how to sign up for MyChart.
• A parking pass for the ramp garage so your parking is free.

At the Conclusion of Your Visit

A detailed report will be sent to your referring provider, your primary care provider and/or any other health care professional you prefer.

During your visit a lot of important information is exchanged. We recommend that you visit our website after your appointment to review all items discussed with your cardiologist to make sure all your questions have been answered. If you still have questions, please give us a call.
