Living With Diabetes

Course Description

This is a four-week course for people that have been diagnosed with diabetes, and the cost is covered by most insurance plans with co-pay. Participants will increase their understanding of diabetes and will learn more about how to manage, control, and cope with the disease. The course is organized and taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator from Highland Hospital. The teaching staff includes doctors, registered dietitians and an exercise specialist.

Week 1: What Is Diabetes, Healthy Food Choices
Week 2: Medications, Blood Sugar Patterns
Week 3: Staying Healthy with Diabetes, Sick Day Management/Low Blood Glucose
Week 4: Diabetes and Exercise, Diabetes and Your Emotions

Time and Dates

Saturdays, 9:30 am - Noon

In 2014, the four week course will be offered in:

  • January 11th, 18th, 25th & Feb 1
  • May 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 31st
  • September 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th
  • November 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd
