The Day Before Surgery

You will be called between 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm to verify your arrival time

  • If your surgery is on Monday, you will be called the Friday before your surgery.
  • If your surgery is the day after a holiday, you will be called the last business day prior to your surgery.

Plan Ahead

  • Notify your surgeon if you become ill before your day of surgery.
  • Arrange for someone to drive you to the Hospital.
  • Plan to arrive 10 minutes early and go directly to the Highland Surgery Center. If you arrive late, there is a possibility that your surgery will be cancelled.
  • Arrange a ride home. Health standards require that a responsible adult must accompany any patient who has received anesthetics or sedatives and is going home the same day.
  • Do not wear any jewelry or bring any valuables to the hospital. The hospital is not responsible for your belongings.
  • We encourage you to bring your mobile devise as it is a good way to keep in touch with friends and family.
  • If you are scheduled for an overnight stay, pack a small bag with your personal items.
  • Review and follow the pre-surgical instructions given to you by the nurse about Eating and Medications.
  • Remember to bring your ID and insurance card with you to the hospital.
  • Plan to bring a magazine or a book to help you stay relaxed. We make every attempt to stay on schedule, but sometimes delays are unavoidable.
