Family Maternity Center Enhanced with New Triage Area and Special Care Nursery
The latest renovations to Highland’s Family Maternity Center include an updated triage area and special care nursery to increase privacy, comfort, and safety for patients and families. Highland is the second Rochester-area hospital to offer private rooms for newborns requiring higher levels of care.
“The renovations in the Family Maternity Center reflect Highland Hospital’s commitment to our patients and their families enhancing their experience throughout childbirth,” said Ruth Anne Queenan, M.D., M.B.A., Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “These areas are part of a multi-phase renovation project that is targeted for completion in early 2019.” The final phases of the renovation involve conference rooms for simulation, interdisciplinary education, and an office to facilitate collaboration.
“These renovations are additional steps in our goal of achieving Joint Commission designation as a Perinatal Center of Excellence,” said Jim Tempest, Program Administrator. “All the requirements are in place and we will soon begin the application process.”
More than 3,000 babies are born at Highland each year, making it the hospital of choice for families in Monroe County.
