Path to a Brighter Future

As we approach the holiday season and the end of the year we are still facing many challenges. The number of COVID-positive cases in our community is still high. Our COVID inpatient census also continues to be high. A vast majority of the COVID-positive patients we are admitting are unvaccinated. I encourage you to continue to ask your patients to get the vaccine. And, now, during flu season, please encourage them to get the flu vaccine as well. During the previous flu season the county saw minimal hospitalized cases of the flu. We believe that was due to flu vaccination, and the habits of masking and hand washing/sanitizing adopted by so many in our community. We hope you will share that message with your patients as well.

Highland is incredibly strong and looking forward to the future.  That is thanks to the collaborative spirit of our physicians, APPs, nurses, staff, volunteers and community supporters. We are all committed to the health of our community and it shows. We are closer to the completion of our new patient tower that will further the safety and comfort of our patients by the creation of 58 new private rooms. As you will see in this newsletter, despite the defiance of the pandemic, we are making great strides in innovative surgery, improving patient flow, enhancing communications, and recommitting ourselves every day to the highly skilled, compassionate care of our patients and their families. Thank you for being an important part of Highland and your dedication to the health of our community.
