Nuclear Medicine Physicist, UR Alum David A. Weber, Ph.D., Dies

David Weber

Nuclear medicine physicist David A. Weber, Ph.D., who worked at University of Rochester Medical Center from 1970 to 1987, died at his Pittsford home March 31. He was 77.

Weber was a scientist, educator, and an international expert in radiation dose measurement during his long career. At URMC, he served as an associate professor in the Department of Radiology, now called Imaging Sciences, and acting chief of the Division of Nuclear Medicine from 1974-1975.

Trio of Imaging Sciences Faculty Pen Award-Winning Medical Book

A new reference guide to diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging, penned by three Imaging Sciences faculty members, was recognized as the best medical book of 2015 by the American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (PROSE). Gary Hollenberg, M.D., associate professor of Imaging Sciences, Eric Weinberg, M.D., associate professor of Imaging Sciences, and Steven Meyers, M.D., Ph.D., professor of Imaging Sciences, Neurosurgery and Otolaryngology, received the 2016 PROSE Award for Clinical Medicine for Differential Diagnosis in Musculoskeletal MRI.

UR Medicine Breast Imaging at Red Creek and Cancer Services Program of Monroe County have partnered to offer free screening mammograms on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon for women age 40 and older who do not have insurance or who have a high deductible plan and need assistance. Appointments, which can be scheduled by calling (585) 487-3304, are required.
