Program Overview
The science of palliative care is evolving rapidly. Palliative care is practiced by both generalists and specialists across a variety of professional disciplines.
This conference targets an inter-disciplinary audience of palliative care generalists and specialists from the Western New York Region to establish an annual venue for continuing professional education in the evolving science and practice of palliative care.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Conduct a basic screening interview for unresolved spiritual issues, provide support around these issues, and know when and to whom to refer for spiritual counseling if needed.
Name two areas where palliative care, geriatrics and hospice overlap, and two way to distinguish one from the other two.
Describe which patients are likely to benefit from legal prescription of marijuana, and which patients will be at risk for misuse.
