Summary

This program is directed to GI nurses, technicians, and mid-level providers who are interested in improving their endoscopy practice through a format of lectures, live case presentation, and hands on workshop utilizing animal tissue and anesthetized live animals. Participants will learn best practice paradigms in routine endoscopic care and the latest advances in therapeutic and interventional endoscopy.

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the pathophysiology & endoscopic management of a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases
  • Learn the indications, contraindications and complications of various general & advanced endoscopic procedures
  • Learn best endoscopic practice paradigms for general endoscopic procedures
  • Gain exposure to several advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures (eg. endoscopic luminal stenting, endoscopic Zenker’s treatment, cryotherapy etc).
  • Review the treatment options for endoscopic therapies for esophageal, gastric and duodenal varices.
  • Learn about advanced therapeutic ERCP techniques including pancreatic interventions
  • Discuss diagnostic and therapeutic utility of endoscopic ultrasound.
  • Observe live therapeutic endoscopy procedures with interactive panel based case discussions
  • Participate in hands on learning laboratory for ERCP, EUS, EMR, stents, clips, and disposable device training in explant and live animal based platforms.

 

Pre-course Requirement:

Participants must have current GI procedural knowledge to participate in this program. 

Accredition:

This activity has been submitted to the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
