Mindful Practice: Enhancing Quality of Care, Quality of Caring and Resilience
The workshop will take place at the Chapin Mill Retreat Center, 8603 Seven Springs Road, Batavia, NY 14020 (between Rochester and Buffalo). Retreat Center Website: Chapin Mill Website
The Chapin Mill Retreat Center is located in Western New York State about 35 miles west of Rochester and 40 miles east of Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Weather and temperatures are variable due to the close proximity to the Great Lakes. Lake Ontario is about 25 miles north of the retreat center.
Our recommendation is to check one of the weather sites (l.e. weather.com) close to the time of the event (using Batavia NY, 14020 as the address) to be more certain, but overall, dress in clothing that can be layered and is comfortable. A warm jacket or coat, knitted hat or cap, and gloves will make outside walking comfortable. Local residents find that long underwear is very versatile and provides a good base layer, especially for early morning and evening meditation. The retreat center is located on 135 acres, so if you plan to walk in the surrounding woods and meadows in your free time, you may want to bring hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers. There are some walking paths.
This is really a retreat format, so casual, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing will be the order of the day, and there are no occasions where you would have to be dressed up. Participants are asked to bring dedicated indoor shoes or slippers to wear inside the facility. This preserves the wood floors and helps to maintain a quiet environment.
