Diffuse Optical Techniques for Breast Cancer Therapy Monitoring

Diffuse Optical Techniques for Breast Cancer Therapy MonitoringNeoadjuvant (i.e. pre-surgical) chemotherapy is an important therapeutic approach for women with locally advanced breast cancer. Typically, such breast cancers are large (e.g. larger than 5 cm) and many anticipated responses to drugs are vascular in nature. It is desirable for treatment optimization to monitor tumor responses during this process.

Preclinical Evaluation of New Optical Contrast Agents and Cancer Therapies

Preclinical Evaluation of New Optical Contrast Agents and Cancer TherapiesThe ability to predict the effectiveness of a particular cancer therapy regimen on individuals early enables us to design alternative therapies without losing valuable time. For individualized optimal therapy, one needs to understand the metabolic origin of inter-subject variations to therapies observed in the clinic.
