Mathematical and Computational Modeling of Influenza Immunity

The dynamics and trafficking patterns of immune cell populations responding to infection and vaccination are difficult to measure experimentally, but can be investigated through mathematical modeling. Our lab has collaborated with investigators in the Center for Biodefense Immune Modeling (CBIM) to generate high frequency experimental datasets and construct models that describe virus-specific B and T cell responses to influenza infection. This work has provided novel insights and suggested hypotheses that can be tested experimentally. The current goal is to model the immune response to intramuscular influenza vaccination.
