Shopping for Shades? Check Out These Specs

Jun. 9, 2014
Selecting sunglasses can be fun but daunting—so many styles, shapes, sizes, and colors from which to choose.

UR Medicine eyewear expert Tom Scalzo says your priority should be picking shades that will protect your eyes and vision.

The right sunglasses provide:
  • UV Protection—choose specs clearly labeled with 100 percent UV protection to minimize risk of damage from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
  • Comfortable fit—pick a frame that’s comfortable and adjustable to properly fit your face.
  • Good coverage—you should be looking straight through the frame, not over or under it. Avoid lenses that are too small or too short.
