Friday, May 19, 2000

Women in Greece and its surrounding communities now have convenient access to ultrasound and fetal monitoring at the newest location of Strong Ultrasound and Fetal Monitoring in the Strong Health Greece Women's Center, 2300 West Ridge Road."This is our second community-based site and the first to offer these services in an area easily accessible to those who live west of Rochester and east of Buffalo," said James R. Woods, Jr., M.D., director of Strong's division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In addition to Greece residents, the new site will serve patients in nearby communities like Brockport, Albion, Medina and Batavia. Strong's other community-based site is located in Brighton at 1815 South Clinton Avenue. Ultrasound testing and fetal monitoring also are available at Strong Memorial Hospital. The new site in Greece offers ultrasound for gynecologic and obstetric evaluations, as well as tests to assess a baby's health during pregnancy. These include non-stress tests, which track a baby's heart rate while the woman is at rest, and biophysical profiles, which use ultrasound to observe the amniotic fluid and baby's motions and breathing movements. All Strong Ultrasound and Fetal Monitoring locations are staffed by board-certified perinatologists, obstetrician-gynecologists who specialize in maternal-fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancy, as well as sonographers, fetal monitoring nurses and support staff. The Ultrasound Laboratory is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

A physician order is required for ultrasound testing and fetal monitoring. Appointments at the Greece location are available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and can be scheduled by calling (716) 368-7020.
