SAD Talk Aims to Help Beat Winter Blues
‘Strong Women’ Series Continues at JCC
Monday, January 30, 2006
Learn to Beat the Winter Blues on Thursday, February 9, 7:30 to 9 p.m., as the Jewish Community Center (JCC) and Strong Health Women’s Services seminar series continues at the JCC, 1200 Edgewood Avenue in Rochester.
Dr. Michael Privitera, associate professor of clinical psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, will explain what seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is, discuss theories on why it happens, and offer options for sufferers to cope with the situation and minimize its effect. “Rochester is a particularly vulnerable area because of its latitude and cloud cover combination,” Privitera said.
The women’s health education series is offered for free to JCC members and for $5 per session for non-members. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, please call (585) 461-2000.
Next up in the series will be Women's Cancers on March 2, Preparing for Pregnancy, March 30, and Aging Successfully, May 4.
