Kids Jammin’ in Memory of Fellow Students

I’ve been encouraging my son Gabe (of Mint Jam) to consider using his talent to make a difference for others.
One of the hands-down best things about summer in Rochester: outdoor concerts.
And – if they’re free, put on by young teen musicians, and held in memory of fellow students with donations to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong – then that’s even better.
So, if you’re in the market for hearing some young people play both original and cover tunes, pack a blanket on Friday, June 9 and head out to Penfield’s outdoor amphitheater in Veteran’s Memorial Park. The bands – Look! Some Presidents and Gabe Condon and Mint Jam – will play from to There will be an opportunity at the concert to make donations to Golisano Children’s Hospital in memory of Penfield students Jon Ozimek and Charlie Cote.
“I’ve been encouraging my son Gabe (of Mint Jam) to consider using his talent to make a difference for others,” said M.J. Condon of Penfield. “A charity benefit seemed like a good place to start, so we’re all excited about this.”
Both performing groups are composed of students from Penfield-area schools. Mint Jam follows in the tradition of a classic “power trio” and plays guitar-driven rock and blues; Look! Some Presidents is an indie group and the benefit’s opening band.
