Gastrointestinal Oncologist Joins James P. Wilmot Cancer Center

Alok Khorana, M.D., was recently named senior instructor at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Khorana has served as a Hematology/Oncology Fellow for the past three years and will participate in the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program.
“Dr. Khorana is a talented physician-scientist who will serve the Wilmot Cancer Center and our patients well,” said Richard I. Fisher, M.D., director, James P. Wilmot Cancer Center and director of cancer services, Strong Health.
Khorana is a graduate of Maharaja Sayajirao University in India. He completed his residency at SUNY Buffalo and joined the Wilmot Cancer Center in 1999 as a Fellow.
Khorana has active research interests in gastrointestinal cancer, specifically esophageal, pancreas and colon cancers. His laboratory research into the effects of heparins and blood vessel formation is supported by the Wilmot Cancer Research Fellowship.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Association for Cancer Research, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
