Motorcycle Ride for Wilmot Cancer Center Sept. 17

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

The Time for a Cure ride has raised $13,000 for Wilmot Cancer Center.

The “Time for a Cure” motorcycle ride from Ontario to Sodus Point and back will be held Sunday, Sept. 17. The ride supports the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, where event organizer Rick Kinley has been treated for cancer.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at Kinley’s Pub, 476 Route 104, in Ontario, followed by the ride at noon. The cost is $20 per person, which includes the ride, food and entertainment. Non-riders are welcome at Kinley’s as well.

The Breakfast Buzz 98.9FM hosts Kimberly and Beck will broadcast live from Kinley’s from 2 to 4 p.m.  There will also be performances by local bands The Aldis Blues Band, Jeff and PJ Elliott, and Kick Start.

Kinley, who owns the restaurant, has survived lymphoma and thyroid and brain cancers. But the victories didn’t come without significant cost – he’s lost some of his vision and motor skills.  Grateful for the outstanding care he’s received at Wilmot, Kinley is organizing the second-annual ride to support others.

Last year’s ride raised $13,000 for the Wilmot Cancer Center.  For more information about the ride, call (585) 233-9657 or (315) 524-8327.
