Free Professional Car Wash Benefits Golisano Children’s Hospital

Friday, September 29, 2006

Your car has between now and Friday, Oct. 20 to get as filthy as possible – and then it’s time to drive to Evergreen Car Wash at 358 Lake Ave. to have it scrubbed down and shined up for free at an all-day car wash that benefits Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

Evergreen Car Wash (less than a mile north of Frontier Field, next door to Aldi’s) will be offering free conveyor-style washes to all customers during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. While all washes will be performed at no charge, the business is encouraging donations be made to the children’s hospital and even offers incentives and extras – up to the “Ultimate” wash package, which includes a five-day rewash guarantee – depending on the donation amount.

“If kids are our future – and they are – then this car wash is all about making tomorrow a bit brighter, giving kids the fair shot to make choices, grow up strong,” said Ed Wihlen, who owns and operates Evergreen together with his father, John. “To do that, we’re supporting our region’s only children’s hospital. Many employees are donating their time, and we’re donating a day’s worth of business and product.”

The Wihlens have been planning to give back to the community since they took over the Car Wash nine years ago; since then, they’ve completely remodeled the facility and have been building relationships with their community. They anticipate that the fund-raiser could collect thousands for the hospital.

“Friday’s one of our busiest days, and if we’re really cranking, we have the capacity to wash nearly 100 cars an hour,” Wihlen said. “We’re also throwing in Complete Car Rain-X treatment for all washes, which is a special perk that makes rain bead up on the car. The product does for cars what oil does for ducks’ feathers.”
