“Dr. Becker and Dr. Palapattu are bright and talented physicians with outstanding research skills.  We are excited to have them join our faculty,” said Richard I. Fisher, M.D., director of the Wilmot Cancer Center.

Becker will join the Wilmot Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. He was previously an oncologist with the bone marrow transplantation unit at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

He was named assistant professor and will also participate in leukemia stem cell research in the translational research for hematologic malignancies program. Becker will work closely with Craig Jordan, Ph.D., a leader in leukemia stem cell research.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and has published in several peer-reviewed journals.

Surgeon Palapattu was named assistant professor of Urology.  He specializes in prostate cancer and will perform the robotic radical prostatectomy surgical procedure, and provide treatments for bladder, testicular, and kidney cancers.

Palapattu came to the Medical Center from The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, where he completed his fellowship in urologic oncology. A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, he completed his surgical internship at University of California at Los Angeles.
