Wednesday, November 08, 2006

The University of Rochester Medical Center is among 125 conference sites participating in National Survivors of Suicide Day on Saturday, Nov. 18.

The event, which is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, helps survivors of suicide loss to connect with other survivors.

Faculty members and staff from the University of Rochester’s Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide and others will take part in a local program that begins at 10:30 a.m. The event is free. The eighth annual national program will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. from New York City. It features a panel comprised of survivors and medical experts.

The Rochester program will be held in Adolph Auditorium (Room 1-7619) in the Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Ave. The national broadcast also can be viewed there. Parking will be available at the Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building at the Medical Center on Elmwood Avenue near Lattimore Road.
